The world is moving at lightening speed and it is so easy to get caught up being busy being busy. Think about how many times you find yourself in a situation where you are wasting your time because you are not staying disciplined to your priorities, goals, and dreams. I cant tell you how many times I find myself doing something that is not productive to my goals or how many times I say yes to things to be a nice guy but the reality is that I’m the only one not happy for my decision. It is so easy to get caught up in the big drain of day-to-day life. Don’t get me wrong; it is great to do things for other people but not at the expense of your own happiness.
One of my mentors Mr. Robin Sharma said it best, “If your priorities don’t get scheduled into your planner, other people’s priorities will get put into your planner.”
Remember, you first create your habits and behaviors and then your habits create you. You are the screenwriter for your own life. Don’t give away the power to run your own schedule. Life is short, its time to start living your life.
Here are some simple helpful tips to get you started:
The first 60-120 minutes in the morning focus on you by reading, journaling, or exercise. It’s a great time to reflect on all of your goals.
Install one new behavior and focus on it everyday until it becomes a habit in your life. Imagine what you could accomplish over one year focusing on one new habit at a time.
Take time everyday to be grateful.
Take a look back at the end of each day to measure your progress. Are you staying focused and spending time on all of your goals?
Start over, make today the first day of the rest of your life. Make the decision and act NOW.
